The 7km long legendary circuit of Spa - Francorchamps in Belgium hosted the 3rd round of the ADAC Formula 4 Championship. The weekend got challenging by the continuous change of weather, just like it always is there in Spa, from sunshine to heavy rain. Jonathan Cecotto, just like in Red Bull Ring, was not able to put everything together in Qualifying and had to start from the back.
Race 1, starting 13th, Jonathan was able to do an incredible start and position himself already 8th in the first lap. Unfortunately, while battling for 7th position, he got in a contact with the German driver Marvin Dienst and was forced to pass through the gravel bed loosing nearly all positions. He was able then to overtake many cars again but only finished in 18th position.
Race 2, starting 14th, was a continuous battle with different drivers under the heavy rain, finishing 14th at the end.
Race 3, starting 18th due to the result in Race 1, the young Venezuelan was able to recover until the 11th position, just outside the top 10.
He is still leading though the rookie championship.
"It was a hard weekend for me from the beginning since my qualifying was not very good. The contact then in Race 1 didn't make it any easier. It was still an incredible experience for me to race on this beautiful circuit where I was able to learn a lot!" - Jonathan Cecotto
